Being “forced” to use Outlook at work, I use the following configuration:
- Disable Popups
- Options -> Mail -> Message Arrival
- Default Reminder -> 5mins
- Options -> Calendar -> Calendar options -> Default reminders
- Activate Week Number
- Options -> Calendar -> Display options -> Show week numbers in the month view
- Enable Calendar in Mail View
- Mail View -> View -> ToDo-Bar -> Calendar
- Change Zoom Level in Calendar View to 110%
- Now you can drag appointments in quarter hour increments
Dark Mode
- Open Regedit
- Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common
- Right click -> new DWORD
- Name it “UI Theme”
- Give it the value “4”
Shortcuts
When planning meetings you can switch to schedule view, add a distribution list as participant and expand the list by clicking on the plus sign so that it expands into separate participants. Now you can easily remove single entries or change them from required to optional.
Pitfalls
When blocking e.g. vacation days, be aware that Outlook changes availability of “All day events” to “Free” instead of “Busy”. Bummer 🙁 You have to change it back manually
