In Thoughts on building a library I introduced you to the concept of a personal library.
In this part I will guide you through some issues I had with sorting and cataloging my library
Categories
After buying a ton of books over the last couple of years, I hadn’t figured out yet how to categorize and sort them.
Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) comes in handy
000 – Computer science, information & general works
100 – Philosophy & psychology
200 – Religion
300 – Social sciences
400 – Language
500 – Pure Science
600 – Technology
700 – Arts & recreation
800 – Literature
900 – History & geography
App support
With the iOS app BiblioFile you can ease up the handling. It let’s you scan the ISBN and gives you a DDC.
If you cannot find a DDC for your book you can go to http://classify.oclc.org/classify2/
